Who we are

Department of Health South West currently supports the
sub national coordination of obesity related commissioning, delivery, and professional networking within the South West.

We do this by

  • Encouraging the sharing of good practice and effective partnership working.
  • Working with our regional partners to influence policy and practice that has an impact on food, physical activity and obesity.
  • Ensuring policy guidance and initiatives being developed at a national level relevant to healthy weight are communicated and implemented fully within the South West localities.

What we do

Strengthening delivery and supporting localism

We're strengthening delivery by:

  • Coordinating number of networks that bring together partners from across the region to share information and best practice, reduce duplication, and encourage joint commissioning.
  • Joining up with key regional partners to champion best practice across the following agendas
    • Commissioning
    • Child Health
    • Community Health
    • Strategic Transport and Planning
    • Adult Social Care
    • GP Commissioning Groups.
  • Promoting Change4Life through sub-national networks.
  • Maintaining obesity-related activity locally during the transition to Public Health England.
